Kath Mazzella is a Gynaecological cancer survivor.
After her surgery she discovered how little women knew and talked about conditions “down there”, and how many women were suffering in silence. This empowered Kath to go on a journey …
After placing an advertisement in a women’ s magazine, Kath was able to connect with others who had similar experiences and this drove her to establish the Gynaecological Awareness Information Network Inc. (GAIN) which has informed and supported thousands of women.
She is a powerful advocate for gynaecological and sexual health, personally inspiring women and arguing for institutional and social change that delivers better awareness, prevention, treatment and support.
Kath is an inspirational public speaker and the founder of the International Gynaecological Awareness Day. In 2009 was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her service of the community through raising the profile of Gynaecological health; was an inductee to the Hall of Fame – Our Bodies Ourselves Women’s Health Heroes, Boston, US; was shortlisted for the Centre for Women in Leadership Award; and Most Inspiring Woman of the Year - Momentum Women’s Forum. Kath was also presented with the Zonta International “Woman of Achievement Award” for Western Australia and received an Executive Women’s Forum Woman of the Year award, both in 2005.
Kath is an inspirational speaker, with a moving and courageous story of turning pain into gain and at the same time raising the awareness of our responsibility for managing our own health. Book Kath now for your next event.
