Perth GYN Leaders Consultation with Kath Mazzella OAM

Perth GYN Leaders Consultation with Kath Mazzella OAM

This meeting was a great success, with many health leaders showing interest in how they can support the International GYN Awareness Day.
I am so excited about how things are progressing.  At the meeting there was a 100% agreement that this day is very necessary and a commitment to support local events over the coming years.
Thanks to everyone who attended.  Your support is very much appreciated.

Outcomes from the meeting:

  • 100% support from those gathered.

  • Judith Parker agreed in principal to taking IGAD to the United Nations for approval as an International Day.

  • Agreement in principle for all gathered to complete a survey and give feedback on the project(s).

  • Advised to approach Govt Ministers for funding for all the projects over 3 years.

  • Agreement that the name stay the same.

  • Agreement that the focus of the day needs to be defined and around GYN health.

  • Agreement that our project is valid and necessary and there is a demand for it.

  • Interest in the concept of our workshops having booths for info sharing.

  • Graeme Boardley publicity declared his full support for our project and a commitment to support the project that goes forward.

  • Painted a bigger picture for the group so they can see where IGAD is headed and decide if it is in the same direction as they or their group represented want to head.

Down Under Fundraiser Week at The Deck Marina Bar and Restaurant, Port Geographe Marina.

The Deck Marina

The Deck Marina Bar and Restaurant in association with Women Supporting Women Network are proud to announce a week of fundraising for GAIN. GAIN (Gynaecological Awareness Information Network) is a not for profit organisation driving awareness and education on gynaecological health matter.  It’s founder, Kath Mazzella (Order of Australia recipient) has endured the trauma of being diagnosed with, and treated extensively, for a gynaecological cancer – vulval cancer. Kath established GAIN Inc in Perth, Western Australia, in February 2001, when she sought a support network for women who had endured the similar trauma of a gynaecological cancer, and found none. Many women afflicted with gynaecological conditions feel alienated and isolated. They often suffer in silence and lack the courage to share their anguish.

The Downunder Fundraising week starts On Monday 31st October and will finish on Sunday 7th November. Several events will be held at The Deck Marina Bar and Restaurant and fundraising tins will be on display in the bar all week for coin donation as well as several prominent business’s in town. Christmas with the girls reminds me that…

Mariza

My Granddaughter

I had a great time over Christmas with my Daughter and Grand Daughter (who broke her arm 3 days into the holiday) staying over from USA and my son his wife and 8 month old grand daughter (btw they are pregnant again – so soon…).

My family

My Family

My other son’s wife (who also have a 2 year old daughter) is due to have her second child on Monday so it was pretty full on around here. Loved every minute of it, but still coming up for air. With all these female offspring I can see I still need to keep on keeping on for the future of GYN awareness. I hope I will have those girls really empowered by the time they grow up.
